This book, (ISBN 1-84528-064-4), first published in 1999, is written for those people who are tasked to run an event despite, as is often the case, having little or no experience. As well as guiding the reader through the process of event organisation, it will also make you aware of how much work is involved, enabling you to make a decision as to whether you do have the time, ability and resources available to do it yourself, or it may lead you to identify it as a project to be out-sourced. A common result is for a combination of these two outcomes, where some elements of the organisational task are handled in-house, whilst others are out-sourced to professionals. Of course, all organisers have their own way of doing things and the message must be to find what works for you. This book will help you avoid the pitfalls, and to produce an event that is memorable for all the right reasons! Written by Pauline Appleby, Organising a Conference is currently available in its second edition. |
